About Us

Business decisions and the economic forces behind them.

FounderKeel looks at business decisions and the economic conditions they are made in. It is for founders, managers and curious readers who want to know why a company chose a particular course, what that strategy assumes, and how interest rates, supply chains or a shifting market narrowed the options.

The coverage is split into five areas. Strategy & Startups goes inside the decisions themselves, from pricing and fundraising to when to expand. Economy & Markets explains the wider forces a business has to work with. Leadership covers the responsibilities, working relationships and hard calls that come with running a team. Business Tools asks what a piece of software or another resource actually contributes to the work. Industry Briefing places company news within its sector, so a single result can be read against its peers.

We are not here to sell a formula for success. A company that did well with a particular move is one example, and it does not prove the same move will work elsewhere. We prefer subjects where evidence can sharpen an argument. That means keeping three things visibly apart: a reported result, a claim by management and a forecast. Figures are checked against their source, with the reporting period and definitions noted. A case study comes with its limits stated. Opinion is presented as opinion. Contributors disclose any interest that touches what they write about.

When corrected figures or a significant development change the picture, we revisit the article. Reported errors are checked against the source, and a clarification is shown wherever the meaning is affected.

The Contact page takes corrections, business story tips and proposals. Describe the decision or the evidence, but do not send confidential company records.
